Going back to stock / Selling my S
Next month I will be negotiating orders of where I will be stationed next. It is very possible that I will be stationed in Japan or Spain sometime in September 06. If I'm offered the two I will pick Japan. This will mean that I will not be able to take the S.
Help me brainstorm here cause I'm at a loss at what I should do.
Here are some of the ideas that I could come up with... any other ideas?
1. Sell S "as is"
2. Go back to stock, sell parts, sell S
3. Keep S as is and put in long term storage
4. Go back to stock and put S in long term storage, sell parts
If you ask me....I want to keep the S for a while longer....but I HATE the thought of her sitting in storage for 2+ years....
What do you guys think I should do?....
Tim

DIBS!! just kidding. I personally wouldn't put the car in storage for 2 years, not only for maintenance reasons but also obsolescence. You'll get a lot more money for the car overall if you part it out and sell it now rather than wait 2 years. Then you can buy the car of your choice which at that time may or may not be another S.

Tim, two years is along time to have a car in storage. right now the car has its most value, stock as a trade in, or a personal sale in the modded condition. thats up to you, but I think for sure that storage is not a good idea. just sell it take the cash, and when you get back buy a new one.
if it helps I know this guy in OTAY Ranch that can keep it for 2 years and he won't charge you rent...only he will need to drive it like all the time..hahhahh
if you decide to part out your baby, hit me up I'll buy some of it (SC)..Cash in Hand

maybe consider getting a new S when you get back?
start something fresh? and newer possible?
unless you think you have your heart set on the way the things are on your car, im sure you know you wont get as much money selling the car with everything on it (hint** ) as you would if you decided to part it out..
i think you should sit and decide where you stand on your S now, and if you can see your self maybe starting fresh and new all over again.

Yeah........ That's one of the down sides of being in the Military...
I wish there was a way to keep her but you guys are right about the value being better now then later.
How long is it taking S's to sell these days? I was thinking of putting her on the market in the spring right before summer in stock form for a good deal.
To be honest, I already have my parts list ready to post up for sale... hehehe.....

If you do decide to sell it, lets see the list
2 MY04 are going for 22K and 21.5K with <30Miles. Winter is a soft market.

I have an 02 and will be keeping mine in storage for 3 years when I go to England for school. My year has already lost most of its value so its not that big of a deal for me to keep it in storage. Plus, when I come back ocassionally, I'll have something fun to drive.
If you do decide to sell the car, I would definitely part it out since I think it'll be hard to find somebody who wants your car exactly the way it is. You'll get the most by parting it out.
