Hello San Diego.
I'm a S2000 driver in Savannah, and I may switch coasts next June. My girlfriend may get stationed in San Diego.
I'd like to know what the local sports car scene is like. In Georgia there are several good mountain roads in the northern part of the state (the Dragon is a weekend trip from Savannah). Do you guys have some favorite mountain roads?
What are the local SCCA and NASA like? I usually find the time to go autocrossing twice a month down here.
What about race tracks. Does the S2000 club sponsor track days?
I'm flying out there in a couple of weeks for a long weekend. Does anyone know of a good place to rent an S2000 or other convertible sports car with a manual? I'd love to check out some of the local roads first hand.
Also, what else is fun to do out there in terms of nightlife, beaches, and entertainment. I'll only have four days in San Diego, but I plan to make the most of them.

If you are into tracking your S2000, you will be saddened by the lack of interest in SD.
Ronblanford generally plans mountain runs but who knows how often they will be now that he is stepping down as CO. Palomar Mountain seems to be a favorite amongst many canyon carvers here.
I don't know of a place here that rents S2000s but I do know that you can rent exotic cars from exoticcarrentalsandiego.com.
As far as things to do, there is plenty and you could write a book on what you can do here.
If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Thanks for the info. I've picked up a guide book and San Diego makes Savannah look rather dull by comparison. I'll try and check out the Palomar Mountain run if I have time.

If you ever want to hit up a track after you move out here, let me know
I'm not sure how we'll get along tho. I'm a hardcore Auburn fan...so if you're a Bulldog, I'll have to shoot you on sight
j/k of course

Nightlife is always poppin' downtown in the Gaslamp. Starting to rival LA and Vegas for the amount of swank upscale clubs. Just drive down and park and pick one you like.
Entertainment .. same thing as the clubs. Depends on what you like as entertainment.
