Any racing school in SD?
#4
Building off of the last two comments there aren't any racing schools in sd since there aren't any tracks. Autocross is a great learning experience and steve from c2 motorsport will be putting on a drivers clinic here in the near future. That's the closest your going to get to a racing school. Or try searching for a karting school.

What exactly are you trying to achieve? Racing career, improve driving skills, fun factor......
What you learn in karting will be VERY usefull when applying it to cars. In my opinion, it will make you an overall better driver because you don't have any electrical aids to hinder your mistakes. Examples are power steering, ABS brakes, differential, 2stroke powerband that is less forgiving when exiting a corner, and the strain it puts on your body after just a couple of laps.
There are different levels of karting and I suggest you start at the bottom. Miramar Speed Circuit and K1 are good places to learn and have fun. Once you've gotten bored and can handle more acceleration and corning g's, you can looking into 80cc, 100cc, 125cc and the ultimate 250cc. Once you can handle the power, you should be able to handle a shifter kart. Not because of the brute acceleration coming out of the corners, but because it's more demanding on on your concentration when you have to factor in shifting.
You have to experience karting to truely understand what it's all about. They might look small, underpowered, and not appealing because they are not what your accustomed to which is cars, but when you start to think about the specs, it will start to excite you. Again, there are different levels of karting but here are some specs from my shifter kart .....0-60 in the 3 second range, average cornering of 2-3g's, and the brake force of 1.5 g's. Power to weight ration nears 160lb/35hp, that's equivalent to an S2000 with 600hp.
Anyhow, that is just a small overview on what karts are all about. They are the stepping stones for all higher levels of motorsports. If after what you just read is a little intimidating, I recommend you try autocross where it is safer and but still just as thrilling.
Here is a cool little clip of a 250cc shifter.......
