Zaino ZFX accelerator?
My new S2000 will be here soon. I will be using Zaino to protect it's finish. Has anyone tried the new Zaino ZFX accelerator? Does it work well? Are you happy with the results?

I'm able to get a higher gloss on my wife's silver Civic with the ZFX/Z2. Also has a slicker feel to the finish. And my black-car customers like the idea of 3 coats per day to help hide the swirls and small scratches faster using the Z-5. And up here in Seattle, we need quicker drying times with all the rain and high humidity and cooler temps. When using the Z1/Z2, sometimes takes up to two hours to haze over. Can't speak to the southern states, though.

Well, I will admit that, most of the time, I'm able to get 3 coats out of one ounce of ZFX/Z-2 on my Camry Solara, with enough left over to put 3 coats on the wheels. But occasionally am able to just barely get 3 coats without enough for the wheels. I'm thinking it might be difference in temps for me up here (cooler when I only barely get 3 coats), might be because I didn't spritz enough Z-6 on the pad, and I might still be a little "heavy handed," even after four years of using Z. Sorry, don't have an answer for you. A thought might be you misjudged the amount of Z-2 you put in the mixing bottle. Would be better if there were markers every quarter or half ounce. I myself am not very good at estimating and have accidentally put more than an ounce in the two-ounce containers.

Will I have to use Z-5 on me new red S2000 when I get it or should I just go straight to the Z-2 with ZFX. Should I use a clay bar first? Then wash the car with dawn?

First, wash with Dawn to remove any wax or oils that the dealer may have put on in the "back room."
I would clay the car. The finish definitely has contaminants on it in the form of brake dust, rail dust, pollution. Claying will make the car EXTREMELY smooth to the touch. It depends on how long the car has been sitting out in the elements as to how much gunk will be removed from the surface.
On a dark-colored car, I would suggest using Z-5 first to remove any free-of-charge dealer-installed swirls. The Z-5 will hide fine swirls and scratches for six months. There are no abrasives in Zaino paint products. But it's your call. You can always purchase the Z-5 later if you notice swirls.
