Ok. I see the reason behind it as car washes are designed to protect the old wax. My car is virgin, (just got it two months ago)unless the manufacturer used something. I'll go ahead and use the Dawn on the car, but is it safe for the top and wheels as well? Also, will it rinse off completely with cold water from the hose? I forsee a problem if there is soap residue left on the car under the Zaino. Gee. Did they sell any of these cars to people that aren't really really anal? Well just answer the first couple questions then please. Thanks.

Yes, I'm really really anal about my car. I'm choked that the car got driven through a mud puddle sometime between the time it was produced, and the time it was delievered to me. No problem now...nice clean, shiny undercarriage!!

Anywho, yes, Dawn or Sunlight or whatever will work fine on the roof and wheels. Just don't use too much soap, and you'll be okay. From experience, I can say that it won't leave any soapy residue, providing you don't wash in the sun, and also, chamois the vehicle afterwards.

and.... you only need to wash with Dawn one time (before the very first coat of Zaino). You'll never have to wash with Dawn again.

Thanks guys. We all seem to have bought them about the same time. Silver/red....yeh, another one. Plan to do the Zaino this weekend....one more thing, they say ok to do it in the sun (the Zaino and the Z1 lock step)? Is this for real? Thanks again.

I don't know about doing anything to paint in the sun.... it seems like a bad idea to me. But who knows.

You will be fine in the sun. Doesn't hurt a thing.

Use the Dawn and then move right into applying the Zaino. You'll want to do this right away because after using Dawn, you will have never felt your paint more rough. Sometimes you gotta destroy to make better....
