Default You Guys Have Got Me Scared

I bought my '04 S2000 new in April. I've had plenty of nice cars over the years and have won concours awards with some of them. It's been a long time since I've owned a black car though.

I've washed the S a few times already with it's designated wash mit and Mother's Car Wash soap. It's now time for a coat of wax.

Before I go into the garage to apply Zymol (what I've always used), I figured I'd read a little about Zaino on this forum. Now I'm scared!!

Does anyone just use Zymol wax and white cloths? That's always worked for me, but I don't want to get hairline scratches on this new black car.

I'm "old school" when it comes to detailing. I've always used the soap, mit, towel, and Zymol wax. I have never bothered too much with paint cleaning clays and stuff.

Do you think I'll screw up the paint if I just apply the Zymol and buff it off with a dry cloth?

I've never been to scared to wax a car!

lol what's it called? the law of diminished returns?

sure, it's important to be careful what touches a black car, otherwise, you'll end up with swirls. which in itself isn't so bad, and REALLY hard to see until they get bad. personally, i'm very particular what touches the paint, simply cuz the few minutes i take to ensure there's no debris saves me a lot of time and frustration later removing swirls.

of course, you'll never completely get rid of them, but you can lessen it throughout.

to answer your question ... no, you won't screw up your paint. and i'm sure you'll have a great shine. however, for anal lil bastards like me, great isn't good enough. we gotta have the best.

I too never thought I'd ever rid of those light blue jars and bottles in my garage..

but due to the evolving products in the world of car detailling today I have gone the route of polymers all the way. Car detailing has really improved in such a short span of years.. I equate to at times, sony walkman's w/ cassettes to mp3 players nowadays..

So maybe continue basic and if you don't find that acceptable, then by all means post here and we'll be here to help you

I personally use Klasse and WolfGang.. on my ess..

on other peoples car I detail, i use Zaino and Wolfgang
