Default Yet Another test: Quick Detail Sprays - s100 vs z6.

Hi all,

Well I did yet another test today between z6 and s100 Q&D

1 MF towel was used for each.

I found the z6 produced little or no swirl marks, where as the s100 produced a whole wack of "very fine" ones but you would have to really look up close in certain lighting conditions.

However, the shine of the s100 produces is still far better I find, compared to the z6.

Z6 tends to "lighten my silverstone" and make it more sebring silverish unlike the s100 which makes it a helluva lot shiny and deeper.

Is there a way to have the s100 NOT produce swirl marks as it's really difficult trying to keep the MF towel clean when it has grime on it. ?

And i assume its' the built up grime causing the "fine swirl" marks ?

Also, I assume that the thicker texture of the s100 requiring more "elbow grease" also plays a part.

can anyone concur this ?

thanks for reading

Simon, I ended up buying the s100 paste from Homer2...I would suggest using that rather than the Q&D...I think the spray format makes it much more difficult to get even coverage. The paste imo does a better job.

I think your right about the fine swirls....dust dirt etc cause them.

I put the S100 paste over the Zaino and use the S100 QD for touch ups, places that I've used Z6 to take bugs off etc.

Vince - that is exactly what I do.. I'm using the s100 QD for touch ups, but in those places, the s100 creates swirl marks , which basically defeats my z5 work.

For something to use eveyday and more economical, try Meguiar's No. 34 Final Inspection, I buy it by the gallon at $21.95! I use 2 MF towels and the 1st is used to remove dirt and I fold it over to expose the clean side when dirty. I don't have any swirl marks in my P21S from using Meguiar's. Detailing sprays with wax are great for that once a week spruce up.

Order Meguiar's No. 34 Final Inspection from Classic Motoring.

Well I found the cure.

Cali Dust > z7 mix with water in an old empty z6 bottle. Spray and wipe down with one MF towel > 2nd MF Towel to apply the s100 right after..

interesting simon-
the base on my car is z-2 covered by p21s...
over that is my detailers spray, which (like p21s) contains carnuba.
i have used z6, but prefer the carnuba spray.
i am wondering now- since i sandwich zaino (z-2) and carnuba- maybe we can sandwich the detailers spray too?!
(z-6 followed by detailers spray over it)
anyone tried this?
