Default YAY or NAY idea.

I just came back from Autozone and saw new Turtle Wax products such as Polishing Compound and the NEW Rubbing Compound to remove oxidation and major swirl marks.

Now last time I did the famous 3 step Cleaner>Polish>Wax system using orbital buffer and STILL see swirl marks. I would like my baby to look as new as possible and was thinking of doing the following... Rubbing Compound>Polish>Wax That should do it for sure right?

Good or bad idea? Car is in great shape, so is the paint but I would like to be able to NOT see the darn swirl marks.

Is this the stuff you're talking about?

If so, I HIGHLY recommend you not touch the stuff. I used it once many many years ago. It's like sand paper.

When you didn't have success. What kind of buffer were you using and what polishes?

Yep that stuff but Liquid instead... in green bottle.

I used some generic buffer from PepBoys or some shit. It was $25.

For Cleaner, Polish, And wax it was all meguairs.

Sounds like you were using the Meguiar's Deep Crystal system. I started out with the Mother's 3 step system myself.

Your biggest problem is your tools. First, your buffer is not powerful or versatile enough to be able to be effective. Second, the cleaner step in the 3 step system is a paint cleaner. So, it's non-abrasive. The polish is simply a glaze. With these products you could do some filling, but not removal of paint defects.

Do some reading and decide on some products/tools that will get the job done for you. I HIGHLY recommend you take advantage of the Detailer's Domain holiday sale to save yourself some money.

Detailing is a hobby where you get what you pay for IME. I'm not saying you need to run out and spend $30K on Zymol Solaris. However, a $25 buffer is not going to get you very far.

The three step system is for weekend warriors that think they are doing two steps better than everyone else. The $25 you spent on a buffer is really wasted money too.

Do a little reading and ask many questions.
