My first detail I used a "professional detailer" and was very pleased. He still did better than I have thus far. But the more comfortable I get using my PC and what not, the less likely I'll ever have anyone else detail my car. I'm not ruling it out, but probably not.

I found alot of these professionals tend to use products that are better for them than you. Sure they will make the car all shiny and new looking, but chances are that will only last a month or so.

i have the best detailer in the world. he is the factory detailer for Zymol and for newport beach ferrari, orange county ferrari, newport beach porsche/bentley, and many other dealers and body shops. his name is Moe Mistry, he is in Orange County, CA... i don't know if he will trek down to San Diego but it would be worth it for you to make the drive. he is the only person i trust to even wash my car... www.glisteningperfection.com, he is not cheap but he is completely worth every penny.
but not to get into all that I do everything myself as I have been through cert training from Blue Coral and meguiars, I dont trust anyone else, especially with my paint

I would only use a "pro" to remove a scratch or blemish I couldn't remove myself with a PC. I am not ready to make the leap to a rotary just yet.

Maybe check and see if there are any members on this board that live in your area that would detail for you? While I don't consider myself anywhere near professional level the Wash and Wax section of this board has been an excellent learning experience for me. And while I am very cautious about anyone ever touching my car, if I would let anyone do it then I would choose some of the members of this board (MikeyC, Anime, etc.).
I also think a "professional" detailer is hard to gauge. For instance, my mom can get a cheap coat of wax put on her corolla and think it looks spectacular. She'd recommend the "professional" detail job to all her friends. People on this forum are more discerning. If I took my car to someone outside of this forum it would be on their recommendation based on the experience that they have had.
