Winter prep with Collinite 476
finally had some spare time so was able to do some winter prep as well as use some new products.
-washed car with optimum no-rinse wash (car wasn't very dirty)
-clayed hood/fenders/trunk with meguiars clay
-AIO with edge2k green pad (removed some light swirls but made the bigger ones shinier... yay)
-collinite 476 "permanent auto wax" with edge2k white pad (definately has some good swirl hiding characteristics)
-buffed with new DF towels (washed 2x before use)
-final buff with meguiars plush mf
-meguiars high end on tires
Believe it or not, but this next pic is of the top of the trunk close up:
I found the DF towels to do a great job of removing the AIO/collinite, but there was alot of linting going on. I washed the towels afterwards 2x and already some of the edging on the towels (3 out of 6) are ripping off. (so total of 4 washes and 1 use)
Collinite 476... definately not as easy to remove as natty's blue, but wasn't too bad. I used the autogeek suggested method of a putty knife to spread it thin on the pad. Durability? will find out =). It definately does a good job of hiding swirls and it seems to be almost as wet as natty's blue. Overall, I'm happy with the results. I wanted to top it with a coat of collinite 845, but I'm curious what the durability of 476 is alone.
oh and mental note to self... it gets dark at 5 in nov =p. I ended up waxing the driver side of the car using a flashlight.

Follow up on the DF towels... I received a discount email from DF Concours and responded with my experience this past weekend. I said the towels did a great job at buffing but seemed to fall apart rather quickly. I very promptly got a response back from Leo Cerruti saying that my situation was probably a fluke and was probably a sewing machine error. He also said he would replace the defective towels. I originally was a little put off by the fact that the towels were seemingly falling apart, but this sort of customer service is definately top notch.

I was just surprised to get such a quick response back from him. Oh yeah it's raining here in jersey and the beading on 476 is awesome =). I've never seen such tiny beads before.
Also, I think wanabe at one point asked if I wanted one, and I replied that I didn't think I deserved it yet. I still don't think I do, but I want one anyways!
