Default Winter Cleaning?

There's no way to wash the S in the winter at home, what with the hoses having to be turned off. We all know about commercial car washes. Worse yet is there's salt on the roads here. <shudder>

What do those of you also living in snow who drive the car in the winter do?

I just used a Self-Service car wash with those power hoses. See if there are any of those around you. I wouldn't suggest putting the car through a automatice car wash b/c of the conv. top

i just put my sucker in carwash machine.
Come out clean as hell.
Oh yea, you will get some minor scratches, but i figured i had more important things to do in my life!!
One day with full polishing should buff that right out.

I live about 5 minutes from you (Cottonwood), and I just bought a winter beater to get around in. After the last storm, my beater is covered in dirt/salt, while the S is nice and clean in the garage.

If the beater is not an option, you could go to the self-service car washes and wash off the salt.

Good luck. I'd hate to drive the S around here. Look at the forecast for today and tomorrow...

You could just hook up one of those attachments to your faucet that lets you connect a garden hose. Then just rinse off the salt and dirt. Hell, fill up a 5 gallon bucket and toss it onto the car. I'd rather have a few waterspots then salt sitting on my S throughout the winter.

Man, I really could use a heated garage!

I washed mine the other day outside and even turned on the outside spigot just to do it... Water started freezing on the car before I could dry it off.

It'll be some trips to the self-wash for me as the winter progresses.

I figure that if I can shovel snow in below freezing temps I can washmy S.

With that said it is tough to do...rubber gloves are a must for me.

There are a couple of threads running in Wash & Wax forum...some folks speak highly of a product called QEW - quick & easy wash...couple of buckets no hose required.

I just found a product called No Wet Car Wash - essentially a detail spray that floats surface dirt for you to wipe away... interesting & I liked the results after one use - but i'm not going to use it if the car is very dirty or for caked on stuff....

Ah. The heated garage trick. I made the mistake of moving here from Southern California, and had no idea how valuable a garage you could run a hose in (with indoor hose bib!) is. This house -- not a chance.

Oh well. It's looking like the self wash or the commercial line is it. Sigh.

Thanks guys.
