Why? I don't get it. Looks way better with the paint. (Mine is a 2009 and tape was never installed)

I recently sold the paint matched hardtop that looked nice with tape off, now that I will be having the soft top and a black hardtop, it flows better with black windshield trim. I like both, but to each their own

To each their own but I offer you these: (especially with the hassle of re-installing tape to make it look good)

You guys are funny. Still debating this after so many years. I can't believe one of you actually bought tape and replaced it. My goodness.

Anyway, my Suzuka Blue buddy is still sporting it's scratched, blue windshield trim. Hardly noticeable compared to the rust spots that have formed in the rear wheel wells and elsewhere. Life is short. Drive.

Cosmo, I love the yellow against the snow. Just watch out where them huskies go.

The snow shot was New Years at Soda Springs near the Donner Pass off 80 in the Sierras. First time in the snow; it was just the side streets. The Pilots had nil traction. I had to go back and forth several times just to get it in the driveway.

No salt on the roads, no corrosion on any of my cars including a 94. One thing the environmentalists did correctly in this state.

I really want to do this as I think my black windshield trim looks awkward with the red hardtop. My car is an 00, I've heard it can be extremely difficult to get the tape off on a car this old. Should I tackle it or leave it to a body shop? I've done everything else on the car myself other than paint so it's hard to take it somewhere but if it's going to be a tedious, all day job I would rather pay someone else to do it. Pic for reference.

Follow the thread and it is easy to do. Little bit of elbow grease, a heat gun and some good gone and you will be fine.

I did mine yesterday afternoon at the office over lunch. Took me about an hour to get it all off and Goo Gone it so it was nice and smooth. Mine is an 03 and came off easy enough. I took my time to get it all, made my fingers hurt after a bit but worth it. I’d say do it yourself and you should be fine. That said, it might have been in this thread, but I recall reading that older ones were more likely to have blemishes under the tape, so be warned.

I love the way my GPW turned out, can’t stop looking at it. There are a couple small spots that were touched up from the factory, but you don’t notice unless you’re up close. Even with them, I’m way happier with how it looks now compared to with the tape.

just did mine today as well.

i started to lose patience while doing the last piece on the centre, lots of adhesive didnt come off with the vinyl so had to spend even more time cleaning them up after the tape was removed.

lots and lots of goo gone, very happy with the result.
