For those with the tape and are going to remove it, may I suggest using a heat gun (hot air) to help in the tape/adhesive removal. May have to use cloth glove to protect from burns.
Agreed! I got a cheap heat gun off of ebay that helped a ton. I have a MY00 and did this in April of this year to match the OEM HT I picked up. The actual black tapes comes off ok, it's just the sticky glue stuff left behind that sucks. Adhesive remover helps for this. In all it took me about 5-6 hours to finish it. My paint was perfect underneath, so I guess I got lucky there. I did follow this post to do it, so thanks to the OP!!!

You're welcome. Glad to see this thread is still relevant after 11 years!

Any bets on whether the next S2000 will have windshield tape?! I would *love* to know whose bright idea that was in the first place.

(I know... Stop starting rumors, Chazmo.... "next S2000," indeed!!! )

I have a 05' Silverstone with an OEM hardtop. I also have the tape on the windshield. Since our hot summer days are almost at an end, and I just stumbled across this thread, I'm going to remove the tape next summer. I truely hope that the paint underneath is in good shape. I'm also hoping there won't be too much of a color difference. My S2 has aways been garaged, so I'm praying! Thanks to everyone for all their posts, knowledge and encouragement!

Some would say the black windscreen helps the black color flow better with a black hardtop.

I agree. Never did like the look that removing the tape produces. Mine stays. To each his own

Hmm, I hope my paint is on alright shape, it's an 03 but has been very well taken care of. I'll never get a hardtop, but the soft top is rarely up and I think it looks way better with the paint. I need rims and someone's ad had it so I asked and ended up here. Plan on doing this in the spring when I put on all my other goodies.

Mine is an 07 and the paint was scuffed underneath the tape. I'll also say that it's an absolute bitch to remove the tape when the weather is cold. Wait until it's as warm as possible before you even attempt it.

recently decided to put the tape back onto mine and was able to track down the part numbers for the tape
as they are not in the regular Honda parts catalog in parts dept.

RIGHT- 72427-S2A-013
CENTER- 72425-S2A-013
LEFT- 72467-S2A-013

they are not cheap though haha like $150.00 for all 3
