I've pondered this ever since I got my Hard Top. Now that I've seen this it has me thinking again. It's risky, and it's gaining in one way and losing in another for my personal taste. It would look a lot better with the hardtop on, but I think it looks bad with the soft top up, especially top down. It just stands out too much for me. I might get used to it, but I don't know. Hmm. Thanks for bringing this back. Damn you!! haha

I just put my tape back on.
My paint took a lot of work to make decent. Bought a black OEM hardtop, so I wanted to blend back to the a-pillar.
If I had a color matched hardtop, I'd have left it off though...

i don't think it looks that bad with the untaped windshield when the top is down i mean sure when the soft top is up it looks kinda bad but, the only time i have the soft top up is if it's raining or whenever i'm parked. and depending how long you have the hardtop on also matters i suppose. i think the tape looks very bad with the tape

Did Honda continue doing this right through the final years of the car?

No, MY08 and MY09 it was removed from the factory unless you had a CR.

Next warm day I get I'm totally doing this. If it turns out I don't like it, or I don't luck out with perfect paint I'm considering just wrapping it in 3M carbon fibre vinyl stuff.

if you can source some wooden manicure sticks- bamboo - it helps get into the tight corners to lift the vinyl and it doesn't harm the paint. I did mine after it was on the car for 10 years, and I did it in the dead of winter without heat, if I can do it under those conditions anyone can lol.

Glad my Rio Yellow 09 did not have that tape. Make it look like a bumblebee with the top up.

For those with the tape and are going to remove it, may I suggest using a heat gun (hot air) to help in the tape/adhesive removal. May have to use cloth glove to protect from burns.
