My BB S2K has some swirl marks. I'm borrowing my friends PC next weekend to attempt to get rid of them. After I use some swirl mark remover (haven't decided what I want to use yet.. prolly 3M), I want to use klasse AIO (I use it other cars w/o SM), but I am unsure if it will strip the polish/SMR off? thanks

It would probably work, use it sparingly. I love Klasse AIO and SG!

You should be wiping off any residue after you are done polishing each section with a damp MF towel. After you're done polishing the whole car, THEN apply a coat of AIO. It'll save you some time and you can be sure that you don't miss any spots this way

thats what I was planning to do.. I just didn't know if the AIO would remove the SMR that was depositied in the swirls

it should... but then you might have AIO residue in it's place

There are some "SMR's" out there that are designed to leave behind fillers to conceal the swirls, but in my mind these aren't real SMR's because they don't really remove the swirls... just cover them up. If you're using a product like this then yes, I believe AIO will remove these fillers. (FYI, I'm fairly certain the 3M SMR does contain fillers. It doesn't claim to on the bottle, but the consensus on autopia is that it does.) AIO is a cleaning product, which I don't think has fillers of its own. So, it will clean and remove anything that is on the surface of the paint. Hopefully someone else can verify this, although I'm pretty sure of it.

*edit - on 2nd thought, AIO may indeed leave something behind that will fill swril marks to some degree. I've never used it before, but from what I remember it's supposed to clean and offer a small amount of protection for the paint. So, it must leave something behind if it protects it.

If it were me I'd just use a traditional wax after the SMR. I mean, a true swirl mark remover will remove contaminants on the surface along with some swirls. It would seem redundant to then clean the paint with AIO if the SMR just did that. And wax would leave a better layer of protection than AIO anyway. IMO, anyway.

I plan to wax on top of the AIO. This is what I do on my other cars and the finish is flawless. My S is the 1st time I've had to deal with swirls on a black car though, so I'm still trying to decide how to go about it.

I think at this point, I just want a filler. The swirls are pretty light so I want to see how it comes out with a filler before I go with a cutter/abrassive.

also, AIO does fill very light swirl marks. My maroon GTI has extremely light swirls, and AIO conceals them

^^ That's true. Dealing with swirls on a black car is a whole other beast though. I would do a couple passes with the PC (inspecting your work after each pass) until the swirls are pretty much gone, and then throw some AIO and wax on top of that. You're right though, AIO does hide light swirl marks, but after a wash or two, they magically re-appear (especially on black)
