i think the clay bar is just part of the semi annual waxing ritual (although i wax once in between). it only adds about an hour to the wash/wax process and ensures the best body condition prior to laying down the cordoba/polymer finish. if you don't like spending the extra time it is probably not worth it. if you enjoy listening to one more cd and ensureing that you are doing the best job you can, it is.

Quick question. I just waxed the car today. If I decide that I want to clay do I have to wash the car with "Dawn" to remove the wax or can I clay without washing the wax off?

Rob, I don't think that there is a need to remove the wax with Dawn first. Wash it good, then use the clay bar with a detailer spray. Wipe it clean with a microfiber towel and more detailer spray and grab the wax.

Thanks Bob. Clay bar sounds like something that I need to do. I've been reluctant to try it because I have no experience with it.

Any thoughts on which clay bar to use??? Are they all the same???? I've seen... 3m, meg's, Mothers... Are some finer than others?? I have a brand new berlina and would hate to put anything to coarse on it...

I have used only Zaino's but enjoyed using it; really easy.

Don't waste your money on these so-called claybar lubricants. Just use a little car wash soap on the bar, and mist the paint itself.
