Why Wash After Clay Bar??
HI,
Just curious why when doing the clay bar treatment is it necessary to wash afterwards before putting on zaino. The clay bar gets rid of all the little water spots that drying left behind. This part just doesn't make sense to me. I washed with dawn and dried. Then used the clay bar. The finish is so nice now I dont wash again before putting on the zaino. Any thoughts????
Thanks
Drew

Im no expert, but I would say there is probably residue left behind from the clay. Probably so minute that you can not see it, but just the same. Since Zaino is like 99.9% opticaly clear or whatever, I believe they want you to have as clean of a palet as possible.
If you are having trouble with water spots, wash and dry car in the shade and try to dry car as soon as possible. If you cant get to a particular area when you notice it starts to dry, hit it with water again. I have a Berlina, so I battle water spots constantly. The battle became much easier once I used this method.

You HAVE to wash after clay bar. Hopefully you were using some soap (Zaino car wash) as lube for the claybar. The claybar lifts tons of very small debris that washing can not move. Yesterday was pretty hot and i did the claybar thing and as i moved around the car it dried quite quikly. I could see that where it dried it left yukky streaks of junk that the claybar had lifted but i had not yet washed off.
So, wash, claybar, wash, dry, polish and your done. Just reserve the whole day!

1. Wash with Blue Dawn and dry.
2. Clay bar
3. Re-wash with mild soap (best if the same brand as your wax)
4. Dry
5. Apply Polish
6. Top with favorite Wax
7. Have a beer

you dont have to wash after claying...
i use a detailers spray with clay- just buff after claying and then polish or wax (or zaino, as i do).
the car is already perfectly clean after washing first and then claying...

When you are going this far (with Zaino or whatever), why not just spend the extra 20 minutes to wash it and make sure you arent sealing inany residue at all?

no need to believe me... i have been claying for years (and mainly black cars, which are the most unforegiving):

"After you clay the surface:
After claying, the surface should be as smooth as glass. Remove any remaining smudges with a clean dry towel. Microfiber towels like our Power Scrubber Microfiber Cloths are perfect for removing clay residues. Mist the surface with the lubricant if necessary to make the final wipe down easy.
If the paint is in good condition and free of scratches, proceed with your favorite wax."

It sounds to me like they want to wash their car again. To that I say go for it. As for me, I'll grab the instant detailer and then have at it with the polish and wax.
