Default where to start and where to end

so... you wash.... then wax and that's it?

what's all this other stuff in between like polishing, sealant, etc...

anybody want to help me out? i'm basically going to strip everything off my car when i wash it and i would like to know step-by-step what to do.

1) wash car
2) sealant
3) polish
4) wax

thanks in advance~!

Wash
Clay
Remove Swirls (Can be skipped as polish will remove light swirls)
Polish (Can be skipped if you don't have any swirls..unlikely though)
Sealant (If you don't have a sealant, just use a good, durable, wax)
Wax (I don't wax if I use a sealant...A different look is created by adding wax on top)

I invite other WWWs to jump in with corrections or additions.

polish is the most important step on a car that is either getting swirls or losing its paint luster. polish can restore the new look to the car- wax can not. wax and sealants (synthetics) just protect the paint. polish makes it new.
so you polish when you need to and then rewax (or resynthetic) it.

i actually use both a synthetic and a wax on mine. right now i have zaino and p21s on my car. my wifes bmw has finish first topped by p21s.
