What should you use?
Well i just got a new top installed and i was wondering if there was some type of product that can be used to maintain the softop from drying up, getting faded, ETC.... and making it last longer. Ive heard here and there that there are products but im not familiar with them. Anyone know of any good ones with the best results and how to go about applying them? Thanx in advance

Ive had great success with Vinylex. Makes the top VERY black, waterproof (water runs off like a fat kid at a lettuce farm), not greasy..lasts about 2 months, easy to get.
All the other products recommended are good, but I like Vinylex for the simple reason that its easy to find.

Thanx for the info guys Now you all mentioned Raggtopp,303 and etc....heres my other question on those products is there a certain way you apply them and go about using them besides what it says on the back of the bottles? or do you just follow the instructions that it says?

I use Vinylex, sprayed onto and applied with a terry cloth applicator. Don't spray the product directly onto the top, or else you'll get splotches of product all over the softtop..

Well, I use 303, and here's how I use it. After every 3 or 4 washes, I dry the top and spray on the 303 liberally. Then I merely smooth it out in coverage with a damp sponge, and allow it to soak in and dry (overnight if possible). When first appllied in this manner, you will notice some whiteness in the texture. This will soak in and go away in a half your or so. Afer the 303 has soaked in for a few hours, you can wipe it with a cloth if you like. My 5 year old AP!'s top looks like new now, as I have done this since she was a new car.
As I note you also have an AP1 with the plastic rear window, here's another tip. Every few washes, wash and dry your plastic rear window. Then spray 303 on both sides of the window and smooth it out with a damp sponge. Let it soak in as long as possible (just like on the top). Then wipe it off with a microfiber. You will still have "smears" at this point. Clean the rear window with Plexus to remove the smears. I've done this, and my five year old rear window looks better than new, and is very soft and flexible.
Note. The greatest enemy of your vinyl top and rear window is the UV rays from the sun. 303 provides SP 40 UV protection. Perhaps the other products mentioned above do too. If so, cool. But make sure the product you select for your use does have UV protection. Otherwise, no matter how well it shines up your top now, the top will still fade and become hardened over time.
Thanks,
Richard
