The difference between a $50 buffer and a good quality one is the durability, ease of use and better orbital motion. Also, the key to a quality detail are the various pads available for quality buffers which enable you to compound, polish and apply sealants. I have a Porter Cable 7424 and have detailed over 200 vehicles with it. I have never had a customer complain about my work. When the Porter goes I will buy a Flex which is a higher quality buffer. You get what you pay for.

If you're going to detail your car, spend the money and get a good polisher. Even if you only use it once and sell it afterwards, it's better to spend the money on something that'll get the job done properly and then to waste your time with a piece of junk.
