the science says that Z2 will shine more then 5
but most users apply as much 5 as proves to be effective, then start alternating 2 and 5.
i have black, and primarily use 5.
every 3-5 coat, ill toss on some 2

yup - I still use Z1
even though im shipping ZFX now, I havent had a chance to use it.
i do a Z1 spring and fall - and one mid summer if i have gotten near that 8-10 coats of Z2/Z5.
u need either Z1 or ZFX to let the top coats bond - it acts as a "glue" , for lack of a better word - to the top layers you put on . . .
once you have used ZFX, it is the same as having put down a coat of Z1, you dont need to use it every time - you can just slap on some 2 or 5 whenever you want -
