Waxing too much bad for paint?

Waxes wont hurt the paint. They can get dull/yellow over time so you will want to clean them off and re-wax from time to time.

Polishing too much (using really aggressive polishes) will eventually remove your clearcoat, so you want to be careful about that. It would take quite a bit of polishing to do that though.

Wax all you want.. but I'd strip it off with a quality clay bar from time to time and start fresh.

clay barring is always a good idea. another way to remove old stuff is "cleaning waxes" which are ment to be ever-so-slightly-abrassive in which to remove some old build up on your finish.

polishing/compounding is another story as mentioned from my fellow s2ki-ers.

if ur interested in more info on waxes and such - check out the wash and wax forums. we gotta bunch of nuts in there. i think i own about 7 different types of wax. they range from sealants to carnuabas, and from $7-200.

Clay bars are great, but labor intensive. Dawn dish washing detergent is faster and "gentler on the hands!" Seriously, avoid aggressive polishing as mentioned above as the clear coat can be removed over time.

dawn dewaxes harshly from what i know. my preferred method is claybar, that way you get the little nitty gritty parts stuck on the paint as well.

I wouldn't use dish detergent on a car. That stuff will dry out your rubber seals badly.
