Thumbs up Waxed fresh bumper paint

Original Reason why my bumper was painted

Sorry to keep starting noob threads but, since I just got my car back last weekend, I applied wax immediately to the paint (probably 2-3 days after it was painted).

I originally thought this would serve to help protect the new paint but as I was just reading about waxing new paint and I seem to have to come to the conclusion that you should WAIT before applying wax onto a freshly painted bumper.

Should I go a head and strip the wax off with some dishwash detergent? is this really bad for a new bumper respray? The shop never said anything about waiting when I picked up the car.

body shop shoulda told you if the paint needs to gas out...

call them and ask. if it needs to gas out, then you should remove the wax- an alcohol rub is a good choice.
let us know what they say...

I just called Jeff over at Artcraft collisions. He told me that most people believe that paint needs tocure for a prolonged periods of time is that paint shops used to use lots of paint thinners in the mixture when spraying so that process requires curing time, where as the paint he used had very little thinner and it was baked immediately after.

He said I was fine with applying the wax since the bumper was baked and it sat for 24hrs before they cleaned it up.

They are a great shop BTW, I would heavily recommend them for anyone in the metro atlanta area. Almost all of the guys from s2katlanta take here cars there when they get into fender benders.
