Wax in the Roof Vinyl : (
Hi all!,
I've got a problem!
I used TurtleWax tar and bug remover on my roof (instructions said vinyl=ok), without reading all the instructions (...NEVER use on a textured surface).
I have a 12" patch of my roof with wax resiude heavily grained into the vinyl. I called turtle wax, they suggested soap and a brush (and by the way said they are taking the wax out of the formula because so many people have done this). The soap has helped a little bit,but it is still very noticeable : (
Anyone have any ideas for what I could use to get the wax off?
Big thanks!

Wet a towel. Cover an area on the towel with a strong color-safe laundry detergent or possibly a grease cutting dish soap (Dawn.. ) . Press the towel on the spot and let it soak a while. You can re-wet the towel as needed.
Remove towel and scrub the area with a medium soft brush. Rinse. Repeat if needed.
Wash the car and top as normal and treat the top liberally with whatever protectant you use. Hopefully it will come out the first time, but keep at it....it will come out.
Good luck.

That's tough. It was hard to get it off the paint let alone the top.
Most dealers (especially porchse and high end car dealers) will have someone that specializes with tops. I would get them to see it first before you break your back getting it cleaned

Big thanks to both of you - thats really good advice. I'll see if I can find a specialist who can do it for me but if not, I'm gonna use the towel technique. Great to hear that it should come out - for a while I though I had bleached the material : )
You've both made me feel much better - thanks.
