Default Wax quick question!

Hey folks i cant decide between Meguiar's Gold Class and Zymol. Which do you prefer (experiece, durability, more shine, harsh for clear coat?) between the two and which wax (any name, type) would you recommend? also which is better paste or liquid wax? thank you in advance. - M

Have you thought about Zaino? There are a lot of guys on the board that swear by it. I used to be a die-hard Zymol guy until I tried Zaino. In my opinion it doesn't get much better...although you will probably spend more time using the Zaino than you would with a tradition wax, but I think you really benefit in the end result.

jeremy-
or, as some of us do, you can do both!
i have several coats of zaino with carnuba over the synthetic...
gives great dust protection, a wetter deeper shine and not that much more difficult to maintain-
actually any synthetic with carnuba is a good combo, imo
(the first synthetic that i used, and still love, was finish first- several good ones out there)

M-Type,

Which Zymol? Most Zymol products available in the auto store are cleaner type waxes.

Both of the waxes you listed aren't very good. They are designed as one step waxes that clean and protect in one application. Gold Class especially is loaded with solvents and oils. Durability is an issue with these types of products. You can expect about 2 weeks.

if you want carnuba then Meg #16 is pretty good as is S100

wanabe and i will always disagree on the sandwich aspect but it's all good as both cars look awesome when they are clean

however Zaino states that there should not be any carnuba on the car when using their system

good luck and have fun

synthetic - hands down you have to go ZAINO
carnuba - S100 , easy to apply, very good product, easy to remove

I follow the wanabe school of thought, several layers of Z2 (zaino), followed up by a coat of S100.

Seems to give a deeper shine, as Z2 is an optically clear polish, and s100 is not 100 % optically clear.

Also the Zaino will last a lot , lot , lot longer than the carnuba based waxes, especially if you throw on a couple layers of zaino.

Most people here will recommend Zaino but there are others I recommend (like 4*PP, EX, EX-P --- depends on color)

The truth is your results will be dependant on your preparation. So my questions to you are:

What is your car color?
What is the current condition of the finish (ie. swirled, spider webbed.... etc)
How do you plan on taking care of the car long term (eg wash and wax the car once per year r once per week)?

Zaino or any other good last stage product (LSP) will just highlight defects.
