Default wax with out polish

i have some swirls in my nfr s2k i dont have the funds to buy a polisher right now but i do have wax and all the other stuff. Would it hurt it to wax it with the swirls still in it? my car lives out side and i would like some wax on it to help protect it a little.

definitely clay it first and adding a sealant in before the wax would be a great idea if you're looking for protection.

I presume, like many of us, that you are getting your S2K ready for winter. Claying immediately after washing would be optimal, as others have suggested. You might consider then using a cleaner wax, such as Meguiar's ColorX, which will clean, polish, and seal your paint. You need to massage the ColorX into the surface. It will remove some of your light swirls. Wait 30 minutes, then top it with one or two thin coats of your wax of choice (waiting between 6 to 12 hours between coats).

Cars that are exposed to the elements 24/7 are tough to maintain. I had to keep my Luthien outside for the first two years. The elements were brutal to her. Wash your car frequently (weekly or biweekly). And wax every 6-8 weeks: ColorX + preferred wax. (If your preferred wax is either a synthetic or one of the Collinite brands, then you may be able to go a bit longer between waxes.) And have some quick detailer ready to attack bird and tree droppings immediately.

Definitely wash, dry, then clay bar. Often, some of the swirls are not in the clear coat, but only in the old wax -- especially is a "hard" wax with high synthetic content was used. The clay will help you out a lot, if this is the case.
