Thumbs up Washing your car in the winters...

Since I drive my car during the winter, I don't have much time to wash it during the day, it's sometimes too cold to wash the car after work as the evening sets and gets colder and not all car washes have hot water. So lately I started wasing it in the garage where I can use a sponge and hot water just to clean off the salt on the car. No soap or anything yet, just hot water to clean off the salt and dirt build up from the winter driving. Anyone else do this?

Luckily I have a carwash at the gas station near me. It is excellent.
It is a brushless carwash and does a pretty good job.
Not quite as good as hand washing, but it comes damn close.

Funny because what you mentioned is something I've always considered doing. Fact is that I despise the cold though, and usually I'll either hit up a car wash or let it get dirty.

I don't drive my s2k in the bad winter weather, but I do drive my truck all winter, and I don't want that to rust away, so I'll take it to the drive through car washes on those days where it's above freezing. Even in the worst stretch of winter here in Boston, it doesn't stay below freezing for more than two or three weeks at a time.

I'll use my garage and a hot bucket of water to clean my car in the winter. You have to dry it off well though, or your doors will freeze shut

In the winter I just use a high pressure nozzle on a standard hose and just blast off as much salt as possible. Usually gets the job done nicely.

Lots of people wash their cars that way in the winter. There are even no rinse soap type products designed specifically so that you don't have to rinse the car. Just wash, and dry..which can be done right in the garage. The most popular soap for this is Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine. Here's a picture and link:

I wash my car in the garage every night. I have heaters in there and it takes me like 20 minutes and I'm done. I have even washed it while it was raining outside and the next morning I am the only one on the street with a clean car. Everyone at work ask how I keep it so clean.

QEW I think? "Quick and Easy" wash..It's some kind of camping car wash. Awesome when you don't have a hose and just want to wash in your garage. That's what I used in Boston in the winter.
