Default washing process

when i wash the car i wash the soft top 1st then dry the soft top then wash the car but during the process i usally get soap on the top and end up having to wet the top and dry it again.i dont like to let the water sit on the soft top because a friend of mine says it's not good to let the water sit on the soft top true or false?

false-

its ok to let water sit on the top... its not o.k. to let it air dry, just like its not o.k. to let the water air dry on the paint.
wet top is fine... just rewet if its starting to dry before you finish with the paint. and be sure to wash in shade (this helps it from drying too quickly)

i wash the top, then wash the car and then dry from top down (top first, then top sides then sides then lower parts)

What is your approach for non-air drying the top?

first, waterfall rinse (does not work as well on the top as it does on waxed surfaces)
then
big blue will do it...

often use my leaf blower first- to get most of the water off of the car (or bike)

if you wash the top, i would protect it...

btw, i just use my car shampoo on the top- 303 cleaner is good stuff, and there are other good cleaners too. have used them all and pretty much only use them on problem areas now. otherwise i just use my car shampoo (with a brush).

What that guy said.

Although, I don't hit the top with Raggtopp at every wash. Maybe every two to three months.

Sure, 303 works well there too.

Re Vinylex: go to the auto parts store in person and look for yourself. Often, the clerks there don't know what most of the detailing products are, so they'll go over, look for Vinylex without knowing what it looks like, miss it, and tell you they don't have it.
