Default Washing and drying car cover

Hi. I just bought a used OEM car cover for my new S2K, and it's pretty dirty.

What's the best way to wash it and dry it so that I can use it on my newly washed car without getting it dirty?

Any tips from OEM cover owners would be appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't used my cover yet (let alone wash it); however, I think because of its size you may have to take it to a laundermat or a cleaners. IMO.

The guy I bought it from didn't have the instructions.

Dario, do you have the official instructions? What does Honda say?

Thanks.

A neighbor suggested taking it to the laundromat and washing it in a jumbo washing machine.

But is it safe to dry in a machine, or will that shrink it? It's already a pretty tight fit. Should I line-dry it instead?

Normally I wouldn't worry about it so much, but I'm going to Zaino the car for the first time on Sunday, and I want to have the cover clean.

And the cover wouldn't be so urgent except for the dang neighborhood cats who love to climb onto my hood....

Now where's that Zaino #53 cat repellent....

Sorry for being so late with this, but here are the instructions:

"The cover can be washed while it is on the car, using a small amount of Liquid Fantastik Cleaner and a soft brush or sponge. Use water to completely rinse off the cleaner. Leave the cover on the car, or draped over a clothesline or wall, and allow it to air dry.
The cover can also be washed in a large automatic washer found in most commercial laundromats. A home-sized washer is too small. DO NOT use a washer with an agitator as this can rip or tear the fabric. Use two (2) cups of Liquid Fantastik Cleaner. DO NOT use soap or detergent. Cover can be washed in warm water. Water must not exeed 185 degrees F.
Run it through two rinse cycles. It is very important that the cleaner is thoroughly removed.
If the cover is dried in an automatic dryer, use "low heat" or "air" setting only! The cover can also be air-dried draped over a clothesline, wall or on the car."

Hey, Dario, thanks a lot. I printed out those instructions to take to the laundromat. I'll put up a post with results for you and anyone else who's interested.

By the way, I used to live in Cleveland Heights. How many months a year can you realistically drive your S2K out there? I heard that even if you go with the hardtop, the rear-wheel-drive handles badly in the snow.....

I followed the Honda directions, and it worked great!

I went down to the laundromat, threw the cover into one of those 30-pound machines with no agitator. Started the cycle, added my 2 cups of Fantastik and let it go. Clean 30 minutes later.

Drying was a bit tricker. I stuck it in a big dryer for about 45 minutes at low heat, but because the cover is so big, it kept wrapping into a ball, so I had to keep opening the door every 10 minutes or so to unravel it and get the wet side out.

Got it pretty dry, stuck it on my post-Zainoed car while slightly damp with no ill effects.

Thanks, Mario!

I don't know. Maybe it's the dilution in the wash water? I just followed the directions and it seemed to work okay.
