I think all the "polished" lips on Volks are clear anodized to protect them. Mine were and they had to be completely stripped and repolished to fix them. They would of had to be media blasted then finished with high speed buffing wheels and metal polishing compounds (not things like Mothers metal polish, that is simply an oxidation remover)
AFter lots of sanding and little results i threw in the towel.
I took it to a metal polishing shop.
He had placed some compound on a small portion of the rim, then put it on a high rpm buffer machine for wheels, and the clear coat came right off, and left it shinier than it was before.
Word of advice... do not spray any heavy duty degreaser on your rims, unless you have the money to find a shop to repair them, which are a dime a dozen.
