TSC17 Detailed: Milano Red 05 Civic
When I first inspected the car, it didn't look too bad other than some deep scratches here and there. It was a mostly cloudly day, but the sun reflections seemed to show a finish with very light swirls. Because it was just purchased from a dealer however (no offense to dealers), I wanted to hit it with a Dawn wash and remove anything on the surface to see what was underneath. To my dismay, I found that somebody covered up some really bad rotary work along with a tremendous amount of swirls with some sort of filling glaze.
After about 13 hours of work in 90+ degree heat and high humidity, the car ended up looking really good (with the exception of the deep scratches that were too severe to completely correct). I used M105 on some of the more severe areas, and did all of my swirl removal and general clean up with Z-PC and an orange LC pad. That was topped off by PoliSeal and then a coat of P21S 100%.
Interior:
vacuum
woolite/water on all surfaces
Folex on stains
Megs QID
OPP
Stoner's IG
Engine:
Meg's APC+ at 4:1
ONR
Meg's Trim Detailer
Exterior:
Dawn wash
clay using ONR lube
M105 w/yellow 4" pad on PC in problem areas
Z-PC w/orange 5.5" lc pad on PC
PoliSeal w/green 5.5" lc pad on PC
P21S 100% by hand
Total time: 13 hours
Upon first inspection, it didn't look too bad (mostly cloudy day...sorry):
Your basic scratches:
Sun reflection "looked" pretty good:

And then the discovery after the Dawn wash took away the glaze/fillers to reveal the truth hidden underneath:
Buffer trails, holograms, and lots of swirl action!
Taping off section to test different combos to see what would work best:
Breaking out the big gun...4" pad with 105 on problem areas:

And now for the cool part...when he came to get his car, he drove his NSX (that we're talking about detailing next), and asked me if I wanted to take it for a drive. I've only met him once before, and he's asking me to drive his prized possession. What a great guy...Hopefully we'll be seeing a post for this car soon:

Thanks!
The Civic was for his wife, and his DD is a Corolla. The NSX is his play car. He is currently in his residency, so I'm sure both the Civic and Corolla will be upgraded accordingly when he finishes.
...and I use Sonus Tire & Trim Gel.

Hey, I have always been curious about Sals Z-PC. How would you describe it? His site has comments filled with praise about how it is the one step polish that can take out even moderate swirls. Does it have cut? Or is it more of a cleaner? Is it a noticeable improvment or even a polish replacer (as in use it instead of menzerna PO85)?
