A cheaper alternative you might try is a vinegar/water solution, followed by a wipe down with a diaper cloth. Just mix 2 parts water with one part regular old vinegar (it won't smell once you apply it), clean the window with a rag, then buff down with a diaper cloth. I've been using it on my windows and it works great. Just a suggestion.

agree- if its hard water, a filter is a good idea- any spots you see on the glass are also on the paint and are not good for your paint (they can etch in the worst case)

zaino is good for glass, but several other synthetics work too... they will get wiped off by windshield wipers after not too long if you use the wipers. again, i find that i do not need wipers- but i better say that this is a very personal choice- if you can not see perfectly without the wipers on, you should use windshield wipers.

zaino (z2) lasts for several months... and is easy to reapply

i dont like razors on glass cause you can accidentally scratch - there are times when a razor makes sense (removing stubborn stickers for example), but you gotta be very careful.
wanabe you are my hero i never use my windsheild wipers because after a while they leave lines on the winsheild... the area that the wipers wipe become very apparent as if there was way more ware and tear on them than the rest of the windsheild. and being a very particular person, i cannot stand it.

that being said, will any type of synthetic work? because all i have is a bottle of mother's and i'd hate to have to purchase another bottle of synthetic wax if i dont have to.

my dad has taught me you can wipe some tobacco on the winsheild when its raining and you have crappy wipers but that only works for a day... i need something thats more long term

I use the Rain-X wipes, it hazes over after the initial application, but you are supposed to buff it out with a mf towel afterwards. I needed to apply it twice b/c it didn't work very well the first time. Yesterday it was pouring rain and the rain just rolled off and I also didn't need to use my wipers.

I was hesistant to use Rain-X b/c I heard it may streak. But then I was riding with my cousin, who had been using it on his Pilot for a long time already, and saw the rain roll off! After this, I was sold! He says one application lasts for about a month before he needs to reapply. Mind you, we probably get a lot more rain up here than some of you do down South.
