Tire shine on paint?
Here's the story, paid old guy who needed some money to dry the water off my mom's camry after a wash. Guy finished drying then picked up the tire shine, sprayed it on a clean towel and started wiping the car down with it. Asked him what's the deal and guy replied "Old School my man", to be honest it shined really nice but only lasted 'til the next rain fall. I can say that it attracted dust like you wouldn't imagine, only looks nice while standing still. Any ideas what this guy was doing? Did he mistakenly think that I was going to a show or parked for show?

depends on which product, but most tire products contain stuff that you would not want on your paint... in fact some, such as meguiars, have warnings about making sure you remove excess product so that it does not sling onto the car.
i imagine that you have no way of knowing which product was used? if you could find out, we could tell you how to handle it.
in any case, i would certainly wash the car and dry it- then inspect for finish quality. if you see any blotching or dull areas you will need a paint cleaner product. if not, i would at least rewax.
