thinking on wiping car down after rain
...and I realize it can pick up dirt etc from being out on rainy street - those particles are essentially not good to wipe down a car with ...
here's my thought - the car leaves the garage very clean but with a very thin layer of dust on in - I drive in a realatively moderate rain for about a half an hour -
what is the thinking/opinion on wiping it down with MF cloths upon returning it tot he garage?
my other thought - I can't really decide which is worse - to leave the car sitting in the garage with rain drops all over it or gently wiping it down after the drive in the rain?
thoughts opinions invited please?
thanks

my (admitted conservative) opinion...
i would not wipe down a car that has been rained on-
a dry car does not have anything for grime and grit to adhere to-
a wet car can attract all kinds of things (especically on the lower parts)-
not a good idea to dry a rained on car, imo-
qew, as ubetit suggests, is one alternative-
the other is a quick wash.
rain is not likely to cause permanent spotting (like hose water can)- not too many chemicals in most rain-

Rain is pretty pure and neutral in Marina Del Rey but here in the Ohio Valley it can be quite acidic due to sulfur dioxide emissions from power plants. I am not sure exactly what effect acid rain has on auto finishes and waxes but you can sure see its long term effect on statues and buildings containing limestone. I think a quick wash is the best idea. I would be hesitant to wipe down a car after driving in the rain.
