Thanks guys, my knob is now buffed!
I did some searching and some reading here yesterday and read a few reviews/stories of people using Mother's Billet Metal Polish to shine up their aluminum shift knobs.
In the past I have used a jewlers polish but it was a total pain in the butt, and no way was I able to achieve these results.
Muz, 50mm diameter with set screw for perfect positioning, counter sunk, and engraved.
Check out the finish!
I'm pleased with how these pics turned out, the sun was starting to set and I was loosing a lot of daylight. I could not use the flash because the chrome like shine caused the image to be nothing more than a big white burst. I had the camera pushed up to 1,600 ISO and hand held the camera for an 80th sec with the apature set to overexpose by 2 full stops.
Morther's Billet Metal Polish + polar fleece + knob mounted to drill press + rubber gloves = clean
So, thanks guys/gals for being such a resource.

You people is NUTZ!!! I keep a sock over mine because it gets so hot (and cold).
At first glance at the title, I thought this might belong in the "Off Topic" Forum. Really! Bragging about getting your knob polished!
(PS, Looks good)

Hot or cold has never been a problem for me, I just use the shifter for shifts, my hand never sits on it resting so I'm not holding onto the ball for long periods of time.
And for me, it just has to look like a big 'ole vintage chrome ball like what one finds in many vintage Ferraris.
