In the process of using McGuire's #10/#17 on the rear window, I managed to get a little on the black cloth top. Can't seem to get the white marks off of it. What removes this stuff?
Meanwhile, I've found that "Goo Gone" is magical with road tar. The tar literally wipes right off in one swipe. No rubbing or abrassion to the car. First I was the area to get the dirt off, then wipe the tar off with Goo Gone, and finally wash the area again to get any residual Goo Gone off the finish, since it is a petroleum distallate.

IMHO, the problem you are having is not unusual, and is perhaps the main reason I prefer Plexus. It doesn't leave white marks on your black top. It is also relatively easy to buff off the window.
WRT cleaning the top, I like the Ragg Topp Cleaner (and the Ragg Topp Protectant). I use the top cleaner with a convertable top scrubbing brush. One or two passes with the brush and a little elbow grease, and it should remove the window cleaner from your top.
And thanks for the tip on the Goo Gone.
