Tape on soft top
How do you remove the tape residue from a soft top? Car was in the shop getting touched up, and i noticed it when i got home. Ive tried washing it, didnt wanna scrub to hard on it. And dont wanna poke at it either. It looks like it was duck tape,, but not sure.

I would invest in Raggtop Vinyl Cleaning and Treatment Kit (303 is another good one). You can use the cleaner and a "stiffer" bristle brush and it should come off. I wouldn't use an adhesive remover.... Also try warm/hot water to help soften the adhesive.
Then treat it a few times and the top will pop!

If the above idea doesn't work, try applying a piece of cloth saturated in WD-40 to the area. Hold over the area for 20 seconds and then use a old MF towel to wipe off the loosened adhesive. You may need to repeat the process to remove all of the residue.
Then wash the top with your favorite car wash soap and rinse off and dry it. Then apply your vinyl protectant.

Dam, never thought about a vinyl protectant for the top. Which is a good one to use? Thanks for the help also guys.
Raggtopp cleaner and protectant, 2 distinct products, can be purchased from most on-line detailing supply stores.
303 cleaner and protectant, 2 distinct products, can be purchased on-line and at many marine supply stores.
I prefer RaggTopp for the top. 303 can has additional uses such as the interior dashboard so it might be a better all-purpose choice.
Lastly, Detailers Domain, this forums sponsor, carries both product lines. Phil is always running a sale so keep an eye out.
