swirls reappearing after few runs through wash
So I did a complete exterior detail on my friends black G35 recently. Claybared, polished with a rotary and light cut pad, applied 2 coats of wax with a orbital. paint was mint after I was done. he went through touchless wash about 5 times already and says swirls are starting to reappear. he doesnt towel dry or anything after the wash.
i've read that the checmicals in touchless washes actaully strip the wax and the high pressure of a touchless actually is to great for the paint.
I hand wash my S and almost never see swirls, maybe only light ones that hide when I wax the car again.
anyone have any input on this. I hate black cars haha
Thanks
Mike

actually I didnt use a compound...I used a polish with a wax in it but its a little bit aggressive to take out light swirls and scratches. I also used a light cutting pad with that. i figured with a little aggressive polish and a cutting pad I'd be good. when I was done it looked great.

u might wanna use an actual polish or compound for cutting. those will get rid of the swirls. i used to use a glaze from carbrite and it looked AWESOME when i finished, but after that first wash, it was back to the swirls and spiderwebs
what was the name of the polish you used?

its called Number 1 polish dont know the name brand because I just buy my stuff bulk from my detail supply distributor since I detail cars on the weekend. Im thinking he might of used something to wipe off the dust or something. he's going to bring it down so I can take a look at it.

Sounds like the products you've used have "filled" the swirls, but not corrected them.
You need to use a product that has some "cut" properties to it in order to remove a very, very small layer of the clear coat -- thus also removing the swirls/scratches. Follow with a glaze to bring back the luster. Seal it and you should be done.
Good luck!

I am using a polish that does have cut to it...that what I meant when I said aggressive....says it takes out light oxidation, light scratches and buffer marks.... im guessing its something on his end that he cleaned the car with. Ill check it out tomorrow.
