Default Swirl Removal Problem- Posted For A Member

my answer is first, followed by the question (which was pmed to me, but i am not able to respond to it):

hey, great question- wish you would post it!!
sounds like he did not get the product fully removed.
my suggestions:
1. wash the car (if you dont, you risk getting more swirls)
2. use the 3m again- be sure to work the product properly and remove it completely
3. if you still have haze, i would use a paint cleaner (its a type of polish)- but you shouldnt need to do this
imo, not a good idea to stop a swirl removal in mid stream!!
let me know how this goes!

hey wanabe,

i feel dumb posting about this on the wash and wax forum, but i just wanted to tell u the other day my friend said he was gonna detail my car but hes not done with it yet. he used a 3M swirl remover and did it by hand. he told me not to wash and wax the car yet since hes not done. but looking at the car in the sunlight, the passenger doors seem like they look all glazy and like they have compound on them still and brittle as hell. is it cuz hes not done finishing it yet? should i go ahead and just wash the car since i dont like the way its looking? what should i do? thanks

I agree. I think that it's probably user error. The only time that I've seen hazing after using 3M SMR is when I used a wool pad with a PC, but that was actually expected. Afterwards, I used Meg's #82 to get the hazing out and it came out nice.

sam-
yup... either wrong pad or incomplete removal (product might have not been worked all the way)
and we agree, shouldnt be hard to fix, but will take some more work!
