Does the old fashioned chamois leave the car with swirl marks.

I have black and I found that the Chamois didn't work very well, leaving streaks on the car. If you are carefull wit the blade, it is both the fastest and easiest way to dry the car along with the MF towel. I dont like rubbing leather on my paint, leaves too may streaks on black cars.

i have used the blade (still use it on my cars that i am not as picky about) and the chamois...
the blade has caused scratches (not just swirls) when my daughter used it (she dropped it and did not clean it good).
my car is over 2 and a half years old and just beginning to show a few swirls. it has been chamoised since the beginning (as have my prior show cars).
any tool can cause swirls or scratches if not used properly. the chamois must be softened before use (wetted until soft).
as i said above, it is my preference after trying every other tool available on a variety of cars (including show cars).

I think quality Microfiber towels are the way to go. The Pakshak towel is my favorite. I've never used anything cotton on the paint of my S and I do not have any swirl marks. My car is is 2 years old, I took delivery on President's Day 2001. Swirl marks are caused by your hand moving in a circular motion and of course holding something mildly abrasive. So whether you're waxing, removing wax, washing, or drying move your hand in a straight line. Think bumper to bumper. A circular scratch catches the light from almost any angle, which makes it so very easy to see. Synthetic products usually have a softness edge over their natural counterparts. Keep your eye on this forum, there's a lot of good information and ideas here.
