In all seriousness, the tire dressing I use is a petroleum based product, and it's the best tire dressing I've ever used.

What about 3 in 1 oil. No additives. Would that work. This makes sense to me.

Thanks for the advice man.. How did you apply it?? Rag, brush??
For me i like the convenience of the spray on tyre shine. I also thought the tyre shine stuff has an anti run-off compound.. Isn't oil suppose to run off whatever its on?

I just dap it on a rag and wipe it. Oil doesn't actually run off on everything. Being the fact tires are petroleum based, it actually absorb some of it. That's why you only need to apply for the first 4-5 + times. About the spray on and wipe, I suppose you can just clean up a spray bottle and put the oil in and spray. I just like to put it on a rag because it's less messy and abit more accurate. Give it a try you might like it. I've been using it for 2 + years. I love it.

Oil is contaminated with all sorts of chemical compounds from the combustion process, metals from wear inside the engine and other external contaminants. Now you want to rub that crap on your $688 stock set of tires? Spend the dough and get a tire product. This is the dumbest way EVER to save $5 a year.
