Hey Guys,

I've got an '01 S2K with a stock exhaust. The chrome tips are almost black. What can I use to clean them? Should I just replace them altogether?

you could probably use any kind of metal polish from your local auto store + elbow grease.

Once you get them clean or buy new ones, you should wash the them every time you wash your car. Take some "NEVR-DULL" to them after you wet them a bit, then wash them the same as you do the rest of the car. Then you'll not have this situation again.

I also have an '01 that didn't look like the exhaust tips had ever been cleaned. I had some steel wool laying around (0000 grade), so I tried it on the tips using a motion following the shape of the exhaust, right after I washed my car. The results were AMAZING! They now look brand new, and have gotten numerous comments from others saying so. I took little effort at all, and is much easier to not forget to wash and dry along with the rest of the car since they look so good.

also worth mention is the fact that attempting to remove the tips on a car with high mileage and/or lots of rain/snow driving (daily driver, for example) may leave you with sheared/broken/twisted/stripped bolt (as happened to me). I was able to drill out and retap my problematic tip.

Good suggestions here. I also absolutely LOVE Autosol metal polish (a paste, in a tube).

Mothers Aluminum/Chrome polish. Worked wonders on mine, and also used it on rx4speed's S2000. Good stuff.
