So, I've noticed recently that after it rains, or I wash my car, there are spots on the paint, like sap or something is on the paint. But I don't park under trees, I park in a garage, and out in the middle of parking lots. Anyone have any idea what it can be? I notice them mostly after it rains, or when I was my car. It has the appearance of hard water spots, but if I (I know... I know) scrub a little, the spots disappear. I recently threw out my old claybar, so I haven't tried to clay it, but I'm out of ideas on what it could be?

Do you think I should add some Dawn next time I wash my car, to see if that removes them? I currently just use Meg's GC wash.

no clay needed for spot removal... clay is for remvoal of paint contaminents. - stuff that is embedded in the paint which you can feel with your fingers.
what you have is "dirt puddles"... it sounds like.
i would not use dawn on them, but you should wash the car as soon as you can. if they are really just dirt puddles, not big deal. but if they contain either acid or contaminents, they will eventually etch your paint.

if they are neutral (not acid not base) they will not damage the paint or clear coat. the reason you want to wash is to make sure.
dawn just removes waxes which protect the paint. dawn does nothing to cure acidic or base paint conditions.
