spot detailing
I recently parked under a tree and noticed a small piece of sap that fell near the top corner of the hood. I used some auto goo-gone to remove it but that matted the finish a bit, producing a bunch of fine swirls in the process. Has anyone ever done spot detailing (ie run the pc on a small section instead of the entire panel)? I don't feel like doing the entire hood just to take care of an area the size of a silver dollar but don't know how things will feather together if I do just a small section.
Thoughts?

I think someone posted that sap like this can be removed by putting ice on it. I think the ice hardens the sap making it wasy to remove. I use a clay bar for sap but I do have to reapply any protectant I applied. No need to repolish unless you scratch the surface while removing the sap.

Why don't you try hand detailing, that will minimize the amount of paint correction (clear coat taken away, creating off colors or w/e), and should be powerful enough to fix it?
Just my two cents.
