Default some questions about porter cables

I'm thinking about doing a full wash - clay - polish - wax this weekend and im thinking of buying a porter cable to remove some swirls.

Ive found ones ranging from 30 bucks to 200 bucks... what exactly is the difference? I'm not looking to spend a fortune since my paint is in pretty good condition still and i only have a few swirl areas to deal with. Can you guys recommend me some specific models preferably for under 100?

Also, I have some front bumper touch up paint job from before but the color doesn't really match. I've seen a thread on here about using a porter cable to smooth out the touch up paint - you guys think this is a good approach? Here is the thread - https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/index.php...&t=249356&st=0

Thanks!

The work horse of many detailers seems to be the 7424. I have one that's about 10 yrs old and love it.

Home Depot is advertising one for $119 with free ship.

I got the 7346so to use for this weekend. I can return long as I don't use the stock pads. What are some pads I'll need to get?

not a PC but its a great buffer imo.

i bought it thinking what the heck. its only $30 (i got it on sale). if it sucks, ill just toss it.

ive used it a couple of times now and it DEFINATELY gets the job done.

i start out with low random setting and work my way up. the only bad thing is it doesnt tell you exactly what RPM youre running like some but theres plenty of power there.

comes with a 7in backing plate, foam pad, wool bonnet, terry bonnet, sand paper.

i would reccomend buying better foam pads from autogeek. the one that comes with it is ok and gets the job done.

Careful with that recommendation. Its not a RO polisher, looks like a rotary. Those things can eat up your clear coat in a second if you're inexperienced.

Difference in price usually comes from the engine and vibration elimination that goes into the product. You need to actually push down on these machines for it to work out the swirls. Better machines have motors that can still churn at a consistent rate when pressure is applied.
