I don't care what it is made out of or from whom it is manufactured, if it touches your clear coat it can scratch. The "best" mf towels made can be pushed to scratch very easily. Take your favorite towel to the back of a CD and you'll see.

Instead of wiping the towel. Try blotting with it. I can cover alot of area with a folded towel and laying it down to absorb the water and lifting it up instead of pushing the towel around, even if it is one way. I had a freshly polished black s2000 and using the 2 bucket method, a foam gun, and this drying technique kept scratches to a minimum. Also a well waxed car helps prevent scratches.

Take a look at the instructions for car care at the Zaino brothers website. They give tips on techniques and etc. It also states that for the most part, you can't trust microfiber. It does collect dirt that will NEVER come out. I, myself, use all cotton towels and wash them seperately and store them in a huge rubbermaid container in the garage. Just the simple wash technique will help hide the scratches that are eventually going to be there. If you touch the car, you are scratching it. Period. Been using Zaino for 5 years now and everyone pleads for me to do it to their car.

- I do not store the towels in a bin or bag at the moment but I will have to start doing that since I realized again how dusty it can get here in Texas. They were also washed with other clothes so I will set aside a separate wash just for the next towels.
- I also might be pressing too hard because that waffle weave one and the one right next to it have a hard time sucking up the water from the surface. They seem to streak the water rather than soaking it up.

I'd recommend before you run out and spend more money that you spend some time reading the stickies and getting the care of your towels right. 9 times out of 10 the problem is not the tool it's the guy using it.

+1 for CD test. Rub the back of a CD with whatever towel - CDs are a bit softer than most paint, so if it doesn't scratch a CD, chances are it won't scratch your paint.
Stick with towels that are made in Korea, or at the very least, Korean microfiber assembled in China which keeps costs down but quality remains high.
