secret weapon... i doubt that we need a paint job!!
but still have not solved the problem- and i posted this two months ago!
i am glad to find out that i am not the only one with this "issue". was beginning to wonder!
what you described is exactly what i have too.
i think that it is a black car thing- probably couldnt see these things on any other color.
i tried to contact you, but couldnt- send me a p.m. or email-
i would like to see your car...

wanabe - it's nice to have company in this. my car is at SM honda right now.
my email is rob@secretweapon.net.
i am sure we have the same thing. and your emails make me cry with laughter. they cannot be photographed cuz they are ghosts. hilarious and sad at the same time.
i also just got some dents taken out today as well.
And i know a guy at a body shop, so if push comes to shove...
anyway, what type of car cover do you have? I got mine at Beverly Hills Motoring. I really think it's the heat of the hood and stains are left from the cover.
anyway, email me when you can and we can compare.

OK Wanabe - I think i figured it out.
I think the paint is being cooked by the aluminum hood.
if our fried paint spots are in the same spot, we should go into Honda together and talk to them.
what do you think?

my cover is the honda cover... i dont really think that the ghosts are peramanent, but i havent been able to remove them yet- i just havent given up either.
my next try will be 3m swirl and scratch remover for black cars. i have been wondering if the ghosts might be from zaino reacting with gas stains on the hood...
maybe i should try to track down a zaino person who might help.
what type of finish do you use on your car?

This is exactly what I was looking for! Has anybody found a solution to this problem? I too have a black S2k and have had it for a little over two weeks. The hazed section for me is a small area on the driver side of the H emblem on the front of the car. I noticed this there after I got my alarm installed. When I first got the car back, that area looked like it had a grease stain so I figured the guy must have had greasy pants and smudged some on the paint. I didn't think much of it since I figured it would come off with no problem. I washed my car 2 days ago and it was still there. I have not yet Zaino'd my car because the products I ordered from them are still on the way. I emailed Sal Zaino and he told me to wash the car with Dawn, clay it and the area should not be hazed. He said if it was still hazed I should call him. This morning I tried to clay the area and this seemed to help slightly but the area is still hazed.
Has anybody here found a solution to the problem yet? BTW, I do not have a car cover but I have a feeling we could be in the same boat if whatever was on the alarm installer's pants was silicone based.
Thx!

My blotches are finally gone!
I had a lot of fine scratches that had built up over the last 10 months so I has the car professionally buffed, polished and waxed. The scratches are almost all gone, the car looks great and the blotches that were all over the front bumper are also gone.
So the solution may be to buff the whole bumper - or even the whole car.
One thing I learned from this - do not believe the promise of the dealers paint protection product:
"Eliminates the need to wax or polish".
"Just a regular wash with XXX shampoo and chamois off".
I followed their advice and therefore never polished, waxed, used a clay bar etc.
From now on my car is never going to be without a protective coat of wax.

dave- sounds like they used a swirl/ scratch remover on your car... i was hoping to avoid that if possible (i prefer to leave my clearcoat as is- the swirl and scratch removers will remove a small part of the clearcoat).
at least we now know that the blotches can be removed!
