"smudges" - front end of black car- what are they?

matrix- yes i use the p.c. to apply and remove zaino. but these "spots" are not circular- they have very irregular shapes and irregular edges (similar to the way that a lake looks from an airplane!). the blotches do not move as you move your vision.
since you have a black car- do you cover it?
a few days after detailing, notice anything on the front end of the hood?
thx

I do cover my car, but have not had the cover on for awhile as I park it in the garage. It will be covered over the winter though.
After I detail the front end, I do not see any blotching on it. Do you have any pics of the problem areas? Can you even capture the blotches with a digicam?

Sounds like something I see on my car.
I have a black 2001. Always garaged both at home and at work.
Never covered. It had the dealer paint treatment.
The blotches look a bit like what happens when you wash a car and leave it to dry by itself.
But I wash with a lambswool mitt and I dry immediately with a cotton towel.
My car has never been zainoed or even polished or waxed.
Only the area around the front emblem has this problem.

my blotches are all on the hood... i tried two different detailers sprays this weekend- one from griots and then z6. noted that the blotches were then not visibile in most light, except for florescent light- where they can all be seen.

o.k.- now have tried the zaino swirl cover (z5?) and also have clayed the area...
blotches still there.
almost time to give up!
i guess the last attempt will be the 3m swirl remover.

I have streaks on my Black S2000. I use Zaino and have a Weathershield cover. I have asked similar questions in the past and got no really good answers. The blotches come off easy with Z6 gloss enhancer so it may be different. The best answer that I have got so far was from the car cover mfg. They say that in the production of the cover, they use silicone in the threading so the sewing machines do not overheat. The silicone will leave a residue but will not hurt the car.

i have tried z6 without any luck...
i got an email suggesting that i reapply z1 over my z2 and then z2 over the new z1-
maybe i will try that before i try the 3m

FINALLY!!!!!! THERE ARE THOSE OUT THERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
These blothches are only on hte hood. They only show up in glare. They look like silicone spots in the shapes of countries and islands like on a map.
My car is black, too. And yes, i own a car cover.
Maybe, just maybe since the hood is hot when I put my car cover on, it melts on some residue from the cover.
Does everyone who had these spots use a car cover? My car cover is the this parachute, totally waterproof high-end cover.
If not, maybe it's the gas idea from SUV's. It's really odd and driving me nuts.
But I am glad I am not alone.
Let's crack this nut together!
