i have been getting "smudges" (kinda like very light blotches) on the front of the hood and the front end of my car now for awhile... usually a few days after a detail and always notice after uncovering the car. (probably only noticeable on black cars).
my guess- fuel stains from s.u.v.s that run too rich that get smudged by my car cover-- but i really dont know...
they do not remove easily, and do not remove just by washing the car.
anyone else get these?
any other thoughts what they might be?
best solution for getting them off?

Are they small discolored areas?

I used to have this when the car was new. They looked like a pertroleum product had been splattered on the front bumper.

I haven't seen them in awhile, I think they went away after the car was waxed and stripped a few times.

i think that they might, but not really sure...
they do come back in the same general area-
i originally thought it might be from the car cover, so i have made sure to wash the cover well each time i detail the car. doesnt seem to be from the cover-

What do you use that ultimately gets this stuff off your car (at least temporarily)?

Also, how does your paint's finish feel in these spots? Smooth or rough?

Mines black but I garage it at home and work.Maybe try leaving the cover off for a day or two and watch it.

Mine's black too, but I also garage it... plus, it's only 5 months young.

Is it visible enough to take a picture of?
