Smeary Clay Marks
I have clayed my car twice since I bought it new. Each time I used Mother's Clay bar kit which includes the clay and detail spray. After I used the claybar, I noticed that it leaves a smeary residue. I tried to wipe it off using the detail spray, but it is still visible. I also tried to rewash the car. However, the residue is still visible in the shine.
Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions on what I should do to remove the haze and residue? Or, what I should do to avoid this situation in the future?
Thanks!

need to know your procedure-
did you wash the car before claying?
did you clay small areas at a time?
is your clay old?

Maybe I'm just being a little anal about it. If I post a pic of the car it looks great. However upon close inspection, you can notice the smeary clouds. They can be removed if you buff (very) hard with detail spray. However, I would think that it shouldn't take that much effort. My thinking is that it should just wipe off easily.
Perhaps my technique is wrong and I used to much clay or detail spray? Maybe because my car is black it shows the smears more than a lighter color would?

Might have been too little spray detailer and still claying whilst the paint had dried out. Just a thought this happened to me on one section the first time I clayed as it wasn't lubricated enough.

will take some time, but it will make your car look better than new-
and yes, you are right- shouldnt be like that.
make sure you do one small area at a time next time.

Sounds like you used way to much pressure and not enough detail spray. The clay will remove itself. I honestly don't like that clay. I use the Clay Magic clay and I've never had a problem with either the fine(blue) or the medium(red).
You need to use enough detail spray to help the clay bar glide across the paint. You should also keep in mind that brand new clay tends to be a little to sticky, and that's why you need to used so much spray. As it ages you'll notice you don't need as much spray because the spray has started to embed itself in the clay.
Anyway I would soak that clay bar in some detail spray to help lube it up a little. Then try it again, that bar should have no problem removing those spots.
